Case presentation: Socket Shield with Argon K3Pro Rapid Fully Guided System.

Written By Ravi Doctor, DDS on September 25, 2018

Patient presented with class 3 mobility & large periapical lesions on #8 & #9 with extensive facial bone loss. Tooth #10 was non-restorable and the patient declined apico option for #7 opting instead for implant. We extracted tooth #16 to obtain dentin graft and proceeded with socket shield on #7 & #10 to preserve the buccal contours. PRF membranes using the ice cream cone technique was placed with the autogulous dentin graft for sites #8 & #9 after thorough debridement of those sites.

The next step in the treatment plan is to place implants on #8 & #9 after bone has regenerated.  For the implant planning we used Implant Solutions' Precision Fully Guided process to place two - 3 x 15mm Argon K3Pro Rapid Implants behind socket shields.  Due to small amount of apical engagement after socket shield and osteotomy preparation, as well as 25 Ncm torque and a low ISQ of 52, we opted to not place the custom tissue formers as originally planned.  Instead cover screws were used and the implants were buried.  The site was grafted with a sticky bone dentin graft and covered with multiple PRF membranes & closed with 5.0 PTFE sutures.

Patient was given Essix temporary to eliminate preassure from tissue contact of surgical site.

It was amazing to have Joel Gonzales with me chairside with the Argon fully guided system. Joel Gonzales see's intricate details of the surgical process that can be easily overlooked.
